And I can’t help but wonder, who are we revolting against? We elected our own officials. Are we going to start killing ourselves in the attempt to free us from our own tyrany? I suppose at least then we will be martyrs to our cause.

If anything, I imagine us having a Civil War—hardcore Democrats versus hardcore Republicans with us moderates caught in the bloodshed. I have yet to be party to a civilized political discussion in which people say such niceties as, “We clearly have different opinions on this matter, but I trust that we both have what’s best for the country at heart.” Rather I’ve only witness statements that imply the idiocy, immaturity, or maliciousness of their oponent. It’s as if both sides believe that the other side is purposefully attempting to destroy our country and everything its citizens hold dear and it is only through THEIR STRENGTH OF CONVICTION that the entire world has not yet exploded.

I just have trouble believing that anyone wakes up and thinks, “You know what I’m going to do today? I am going to destroy the morals, economy, and way of life of the country I live in.” But to be fair, I am not particularly politically active. Maybe if I were, I would have encountered more of these freedom hating Americans that the politically active are fighting to protect us from.
